Vineyard Tracks
Essential Vineyard Harvest

Our Process
We arrived at a track that had been severely impacted by years of exposure to harsh weather conditions. The surface was uneven, prone to flooding, and in urgent need of attention. To begin the restoration process, we focused on re-levelling the track to ensure a smoother, more stable foundation. This involved clearing away debris, reshaping the surface, and carefully grading it to improve drainage. We also dug new ditches along the edges and installed a comprehensive drainage system, while adjusting the camber of the track to better direct the flow of water, preventing it from pooling or running across the surface.

Adaptability & Sustainability
With the groundwork in place, we sourced approximately 200 tonnes of high-quality local Fittleworth stone, renowned for its durability and stability. This stone was carefully spread over the track’s surface to restore the top layer, which had been worn down over time. We then levelled and compacted the stone to create a solid, smooth surface. The compaction process helped to seal the track and prevent water from seeping into the base, ensuring the track would remain intact and free from erosion.

The Result
The result is a robust, long-lasting track that provides reliable, year-round access for vineyard workers. The newly installed drainage system plays a crucial role in preventing water from accumulating on the track, which could cause damage or make it impassable. Furthermore, the upgraded drainage and ditch work protect the vineyard fields themselves by preventing flooding during the winter months. This ensures the vineyards remain accessible for essential maintenance and harvesting, even in the wettest conditions.

By restoring and reinforcing the track in this way, we’ve not only improved functionality but also ensured that the vineyard can continue to operate smoothly and efficiently, regardless of the weather.
