Retaining Walls & Levelling
Striking & Functional Transformations

Our Process
The client presented us with a challenge: a large, unsightly bank at the entrance to his property. The slope was steep and uneven, making it difficult to maintain and unwelcoming to visitors. After evaluating various options, including gabions and rendered blockwork, we decided to focus on a more refined solution centered around the creation of strong, functional retaining walls.

Adaptability & Sustainability
We began by reshaping the bank, digging and pouring concrete footings to ensure a solid foundation for the retaining walls. Once the footings were in place, we lowered the lawn level to reduce the height of the bank and created tiered sections in the garden, each framed by a retaining wall on either side of the entrance.

The retaining walls were built using local stone, chosen for its natural beauty and to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. The craftsmanship in the stonework ensured that the walls not only served their structural purpose but also added character and elegance to the entrance. The soil removed during the process was repurposed—excess soil was taken by a local farmer to fill gullies in his field, while the remainder was used to backfill the walls.

The Result
The finished result transformed the once awkward, overgrown area into a visually striking and functional entrance, with the retaining walls providing both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
